roof
The roofer installed counter flashing on top of the stucco where a kickout flashing should be installed under the stucco.
A Properly Installed Diverter Flashing
Improper installation of Diverter Flashing
Close up of improper installation of diverter flashing.
These homes did not have diverter flashings installed
during construction. As you can see whether your home
has siding, stucco, or a stone exterior water can invade
and damage the wood.

Diverter Flashing
No Diverter Flashing was installed when this home was built.
Water damage
Look at the damage that has been caused!
This is an example of a diverter flashing installation.
This homeowner had a new roof and gutter helmut installed on their home. The roofer installed counterflashing on top of the stucco. Counterflashings will not stop water from entering the wall cavity and are not a replacement for kickout flashings.
